First Aid and Illness at Elderslie High School

Parents must realise that the School cannot provide First Aid for injuries incurred at home or nursing facilities for students recovering from illness. We will do our best to assist in cases of injury or sickness at School.

Parents of students who have an illness and who may need to take any medication during the school day are asked to advise us (eg. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, kidney complaint, etc). There is space on the Emergency Contact Card for this purpose. Taking pills, powders, medicines, or tablets at school without advising the Deputy Principal is forbidden. When such treatment is essential please provide a note with full details.

It is requested that SICK CHILDREN ARE NOT SENT TO SCHOOL. We do not have the facilities to cope with large numbers of ill students. It is School Policy to telephone a parent before sending a sick child home and this causes many problems if there is no one at home or we have to contact parents at their place of work.
