Policy statement for Personal Development and Physical Education, a COMPULSORY subject for Years 7,8,9 and 10.
STRUCTURE of the COURSE.
* In Years 7&8, students are timetabled for TWO lessons of Physical Education and ONE lesson of Personal Development and Health during each two week cycle.
- In Years 9&10, students are timetabled for TWO lessons of Physical Education and TWO lessons of Personal Development and Health during each two week cycle.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS.
- students are to be changed appropriately for all Physical Education (P.E.) lessons and are to participate to the best of their ability.
- At the beginning of each P.E. lesson, you will use the changing rooms to change into your E.H.S. sport uniform. (Details in your school diary). School bags are left in the changing rooms. Valuables should be left with the teacher. Report to your teacher for roll marking, When your name is called, answer with one of the following:
- complete E.H.S. sport/P.E. uniform.
- one part of uniform is incomplete. E.G. shirt is different.
- Changed appropriately, but NOT the E.H.S. uniform.
- Any part of E.H.S. school uniform.
- Student is not changed and there is no acceptable explanation.
- an acceptable explanation is required when a student is unable to participate; i.e. you are sick or injured. A note is not required. Long term exemption requires a doctor’s certificate.
- If for some reason, the E.H.S. sport/P.E. uniform is unavailable, an appropriate change of clothes is required for lessons.
- students are to bring their workbooks to ALL classroom lessons. These books are to be completed and kept up to date. It is the student’s responsibility to “catch-up” on class work when any lesson is missed.
- Workbooks will be monitored by class teachers and assessed for reporting to parents.
- At the completion of each lesson/unit of work, your “personal profile” will be completed in terms of your - personal best.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION.
- it is the responsibility of each student to submit ALL tasks on time i.e. On or before the scheduled date.
- tasks are to be submitted during the scheduled lesson on the due date.
- if a student is absent on the due date, the task is to be given to the class teacher on the day that the student returns to school.
- Tasks submitted after the due date, will be penalised at a rate of 10% per day. NO tasks will receive assessment marks after FIVE days of the due date. However, tasks must still be presented to fulfil course requirements. Any task that is not presented on the due date must be accompanied by a note of explanation from the parent/caregiver.
- students who fail to complete an assigned task will have a letter sent home to parents/caregivers.
- students who require an extension of time, must discuss the matter with the class teacher and/or the Head Teacher.
- ALL ASSIGNED WORK MUST BE THE SOLE WORK OF EACH STUDENT. Cheating, plagiarism and any misconduct will not be tolerated during any task. In these circumstances, zero marks will be allocated.
- the class teacher and/or the Head Teacher will counsel students who fail to satisfy course requirements. Parents/caregivers will be informed of these situations.
- reports will be completed for each semester. Outcomes and areas of assessment will indicate combined student progress in formal assessments and class work. This will include presentation of bookwork, preparedness for class, motivation, and interaction with others, classroom behaviour.
These guidelines will determine the quality of each semester’s report.
INFORMATION ABOUT SPORT for students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
- Every week, check the sport notice boards before Wednesday for the venue, the time, the cost and the bus number.
- On Wednesdays, you may wear the E.H.S. sport uniform to school OR the E.H.S. school uniform and change appropriately before sport. Combinations of uniforms are not to be worn.
- If you forget your sport money, you can borrow it from the P.E. staffroom BEFORE school or when you arrive at school. This money must be returned to the staffroom on the following day.
- only choose a sport that you can pay for each week.
- If you are sick or injured on sport day, bring a note of explanation, signed by a parent/care giver, to the P.E. staffroom BEFORE school or when you arrive at school. Students are supervised in the NON SPORT group.
- If you need to leave school early on a Wednesday for an exceptional reason (E.G. a specialist appointment), OR be dismissed from the venue, bring a note of explanation, signed by a parent/care giver, to the P.E. staffroom BEFORE school or when you arrive at school.
- Do not leave school without permission.
- Rolls are marked before and after sport. Make sure that your name is marked on each occasion Students are supervised until the end of sport.
- If for any reason you miss the bus, report immediately to the sport organisers.
- The E.H.S. “SPORT CONSENT FORM” must be completed, signed by a parent/care giver and returned to each student’s sport supervisor. This form must be returned BEFORE the advised date or students will attend the NON-SPORT group.
